Different Ranch Experience Events Milbourn Ranch

You can choose what suits your interest. Improve your riding skills and Horsemanship. Learn how to handle cattle.    You can learn all aspects of cattle work: gathering , sorting, cutting, driving,  working the pens, helping in the chutes and roping . Bring your own horse or rent a ranch horse.  Let us know what you are interest lies. We will direct you to what event would work. The Cowboy College would have all the skills learned in the one week event. 

Usually the 3rd week in April . Two days of gathering cattle. Bringing them into the sorting pens. Sorting off and running them through the chutes for preg . check , shots, doctoring and branding. Camp in your own trailer and ride your own horse. Stay in ranch motor home or motel. Ranch horses available for rent.

First week in May . The Spring cow and calves are gathered. Brought to the sorting pens. Sorted off . Calves roped and dragged to the fire to be de-horned, shots and castrated if bulls.

Shipping of cattle to be finished out. This is getting up in the dark of the morning to be ready to ride out at sun up. Put in shipping pens and waiting for shipping trucks to arrive.  Pasture weaning of Spring calves.

Usually around the 15th of October . Two days of gathering cattle. Bringing them into the sorting pens. Ranch horses available for rent.
